Sunrise EP Soundlift

If you haven’t heard, Soundlift has a new EP forthcoming. If you are one of the people gasping right now, take heart in knowing that Soundlift is back and better than ever. Many artists sample and use what comes prepackaged, but Soundlift aims to create something so much more than the same recycled sounds. The man uses live instruments in his productions for crying out loud. And yet, his name is met with a blank stare by those newly initiated into trance who trumpet the predictable “Armin is the king of trance.” If you’ve known me for awhile, you know I have nothing against Armin Van Buuren. What I do take issue with is how people like Soundlift are not more popular.

Soundlift is no stranger to hard work. He launced his label Natura Recordings in 2015, but has been tirelessly producing music and redefining the trance genre for years. Soundlife’s real name is Pedro Miguel Marques Azevedo Martins. A talented export from Portugal, Soundlift has remained dedicated to making quality melodies and producing orchestral trance. Soundlift has also worked cimenatic scores, made chillout music, and produced acoustic, instrumental music, not bending to trends.

Back in 2012, Soundlift announced he was going to quit trance to score films and focus on other projects. The devastating news was met with emotional pleas to not quit, much discussion about taking the wait and see approach, and criticism over leaving behind a genre instead of sticking with it. Make no mistake. I was saddened to read that Soundlift was going to leave trance but he has long since returned.

In order to keep trance and music like his alive, we must support our artists. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t stream music that was available across various platforms like Youtube, Soundcloud, and Spotify, but I also buy music because music for purchase is mastered and mixed for quality results. It also allows artists to eat and helps them realize their goals. “I love your work man” only goes so far. That is not to say that one should not encourage an artist and let him or her know how much you appreciate them. Appreciation comes in many forms and one of the most helpful is in the form of currency.

Here is a short preview of Sunrise from the EP:

The Sunrise EP will be released the 31st of March, so be on the look out for it. You can private message Soundlift on his Facebook if you are interested in getting this from him before the release. Soundlift is a good guy and an artist I don’t want to see fade into the background. I do this blog for the love of music, but words can only do so much. I support this artist with my money because I believe in him. If you feel the same way, check out the below links and be prepared to have some feels brought out of you.
